The position at a glance


The Analytics Lab is BNP Paribas CIB's center of excellence in AI/Machine Learning, responsible for spearheading the bank's AI transformation initiatives. In detail

 

The role of AI/ML Specialist involves the following responsibilities:   

  • Design, implement, and rigorously evaluate AI/ML solutions that are aligned with the bank’s overall strategy and goals.
  • Work with the business to translate their requirements into high-impact AI/ML solutions. 
  • Stay current with the latest technical developments in the fields of GenAI, AI, and ML and identify opportunities to apply those at the bank.
  • Communicate technical concepts and results to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner. 
  • Collaborate with internal clients to identify new opportunities for ML applications and models. 
  • Work with Application Development teams to deploy and support ML models in production environments. 

 

The strengths and skills that will help you succeed


  • Master’s degree or above in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research, Statistics, or Mathematics).
  • Professional working proficiency in English language is required
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.    
  • Hands-on experience contributing to data science, machine learning, deep learning, or GenAI projects in Python. In particular :
    • Demonstrable portfolio of data science / machine learning projects.  
    • Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, PyTorch) and/or GenAI/Agentic frameworks (e.g., transformers, langchain/langgraph, llamaindex, OpenAI Agents SDK, crewAI).  
    • Command of at least one data analysis and processing library (e.g., pandas, SQL, Spark, Dask).  
    • Experience with visualization libraries (matplotlib, seaborn, plotly).  
  • Experience with version control (git), Linux environment, and command-line interfaces.  
  • Given the vast majority of our clients, both internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific language requirements may apply. Knowledge English and French is required. 
  • Strong work ethic and ability to deal with confidential information 


Nice-to-have Qualifications: 


  • Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP).  
  • Experience with modern RAG techniques.  
  • Experience parsing complex documents.  
  • Experience in deploying models to production.  
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GIT, Jenkins, …) and MLOps (MLFlow).  
  • Experience with containerization techniques (Docker & Kubernetes).  
  • Experience with mentoring junior team members.
