Position Purpose

To assume responsibility for independently processing workflows related to Letters of Credit, Bank Guarantees, and Collection transactions, adhering strictly to established SOPs and ensuring the highest level of accuracy. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of the lifecycle of trade finance products, including the flow of accounting entries, as well as the ability to effectively coordinate with multiple teams to facilitate the successful execution of transactions.

Responsibilities

Direct Responsibilities

  • Independently review, analyze, and instruct relevant teams on the processing of various stages of trade finance transactions
  • Monitor workflow tools to track transactions request and incoming SWIFT messages, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Ensure the timely completion and dissemination of report-based activities, providing stakeholders with relevant details and obtaining their instructions and feedback to facilitate the efficient and accurate completion of tasks.
  • Process LC and BG openings/amendments requests and manage Bank Guarantee Commission, including settlement, claims, and tracing overdue commissions.
  • Monitor Nostro reports to identify incoming funds, investigate unclear items, and escalate ageing items; monitor internal accounts to identify accounting errors and pass correction entries.
  • Ensure that all transactions are processed within agreed TAT, highlighting any procedural modifications or improvements required.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant SOP, regulations, internal policies, and sanctions, maintaining a Zero Tolerance policy for errors and incidents.
  • Maintain KPI below site-specific targets for errors and incidents.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate regularization of accounting errors.
  • Record and track daily transactional activity, capturing key metrics and trends to provide insights into operational performance, identify areas for improvement, and support data-driven decision making.
  • Stay updated on changes in trade finance regulations, best practices, and industry guidelines, including UCP, URDG, URC.

 

Contributing Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members, sharing knowledge to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Work closely with team members to resolve issues, standardize processes, and drive process improvements, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of processes to identify gaps, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.
  • Provide support and assistance in implementing process enhancements to mitigate risks and improve overall performance.

Technical & Behavioral Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certifications in trade finance are a plus. Professional certifications in trade finance (e.g., CDCS, CSDG) would be an added advantage.

• 2 - 5 years of experience in trade finance, with a strong background in handling various aspects of Letter of Credit/ Bank Guarantee/ Collection transactions, including reconciliation and accounting functions.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Good understanding of regulatory requirements.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
