About Business line/Function:

BNP Paribas as a prime broker provides a wide range of services to hedge funds including secured financing, securities settlement, custody, capital introduction, securities lending and custom information technology. Cash PB Wire payments team ensures that the cash payments for the clientele of Prime brokerage business are processed as per client’s advice, in accordance with Group and Regulatory Policies and/or contractual agreements.   


Position Purpose

This position will be primarily responsible in timely action with regards to input or releasing payments to minimize any risk or impact to clients’ accounts. Additionally, the identified candidate will work on timely resolution of nostro breaks, mitigation of operational and reputational risk by escalating issues in a timely and efficient manner. Lastly, liaising with clients and other internal support functions for resolving issues pertaining to wire transfers.

 

Responsibilities

1. Wire‑Transfer Execution

  • Process client‑initiated wire transfers accurately and within agreed timeframes.
  • Ensure all payment instructions are entered and released from the system promptly.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, external agents, and client representatives to resolve any payment‑related queries.

2. Nostro & Accounting Reconciliations

  • Investigate and clear Nostro‑breaks as quickly as possible.
  • Work with the Control & Accounting teams to resolve any accounting mismatches.
  • Escalate any items that could pose operational risk to the direct manager without delay.

3. Cost & Operational‑Risk Management

  • Follow established procedures and compliance controls to minimise operational and reputational risk.
  • Monitor market‑risk indicators (e.g., buy‑ins) and act appropriately.
  • Drive higher Straight‑Through‑Processing (STP) rates with custodians by keeping static data current.
  • Reduce manual instruction volume to lower cost, manual‑intervention risk, and settlement risk, adhering to compliance rules.
  • Activate the escalation protocol whenever a potential operational risk is identified.

4. Process Excellence & Collaboration

  • Maintain strong relationships with client representatives, sales teams, domestic agents, and custodians; raise issues promptly when they arise.
  • Support other operational units as needed and keep direct managers informed of any emerging problems.

5. Operational Management & Client Focus

  • Deliver best‑in‑class service to both external clients and internal partners; aim for zero client complaints.
  • Act as a hands‑on Subject‑Matter Expert (SME): perform core activities yourself to provide credible support and guidance.
  • Be visible, accountable, and proactive in handling Business‑As‑Usual (BAU) issues, process gaps, and escalations.
  • Uphold a culture of respect, ambition, and collaboration among colleagues.

6. Governance, Controls & Reporting

  • Achieve zero processing errors while executing BAU tasks.
  • Adhere to ORUS governance, maintaining complete audit trails and accurate End‑of‑Day (EOD) reports.
  • Document all controls, follow the L3 procedure, and keep Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) up to date.
  • Report to management and stakeholders through the prescribed escalation channels.

  

Technical & Behavioral Competencies

  • Experience:8‑10 years in Prime Brokerage cash‑payments operations, preferably as a Subject‑Matter Expert or in a comparable operational role.
  • Strong understanding of SWIFT payment messages (MT202, MT103, and newer MX formats), solid grasp of financial markets and products, and advanced proficiency with Excel.
  • Compliance - Strict adherence to established procedures and internal compliance policies.
  • Analytical Skills: Proven ability to analyse data, organise tasks, and produce clear, accurate reports.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable with flexible work methods and thriving in a dynamic, international environment.
  • Resilience: Demonstrates rigor and responsiveness under pressure, consistently pursuing excellence.
  • Shift Availability: Willingness to work the US night shift (21:00 – 06:00 SGT).
