About Business Line/Function
BNP Paribas acts as a custodian bank for their clients which is a specialized financial institution responsible for providing securities services. It provides post-trade services (Clearing & Settlement) and solutions for asset owners, asset managers and broker-dealers. BNP has physical possession of its clients' financial assets. These could include cash, stock certificates, bonds, and other financial instruments and are responsible for safeguarding these types of assets.
Position Purpose
The role of an Assistant Manager in the Local Settlements team requires the person to facilitate settlement of Client trades in the relevant Settlement Centre. This role gives the opportunity to learn about different markets, the products offered and the nature of settlement. This position serves as a base to master the Clearing & Custody activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform various operational tasks on complex processing that require general knowledge of unit functions and systems
- Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
- Liaising with clients and internal teams on issues related to the transactions and associated products in a timely and cost-effective manner
- Mitigation of operational and reputational risk by escalating in a timely and efficient manner
- Ensuring all client trades are instructed, matched & settled on a timely basis, monitoring of failing trades.
- Keeping clients posted on the latest status of their trades with BNP.
- Placing the client’s trades into respective markets to enhance the settlements.
- Liaising with the counterparties and various other internal and external stakeholders to enhance the process of smooth settlement.
- Escalation & Reporting process: Internal rules of reporting and escalation to Internal and External stakeholders need to be known & applied.
- Liaising with various internal and external stakeholders for any static requirement/setup/account manager follow-ups to ensure the trade settlement has no impact.
- Monitoring of the daily production through KPIs, Reports (Dashboard, Breaks extract, Orus controls, etc.)
- Idea generation that will enable to simplify the process.
- Should understand the process map and gain knowledge about the pre and post settlement activities.
- Active participation in any testing activity for the process enhancement.
- Support the team and other team members in participating in cross training and providing support and coverage during busy periods.
Technical & Behavioral Competencies
- Must be amenable to work on an early morning shift schedule (Sydney Timing) 6AM-3PM, Philippine Local Time.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Banking and Finance, or any related fields
- At least 6-8 years of relevant work experience in Securities Trade Settlements / Custody
- A comprehensive understanding of securities products and the overall Trade Lifecycle Process
- Expertise in Using Banking Software’s & overall awareness of using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
- Thorough understanding of Capital market, Financial Instruments, Investment baking processes would be added advantage
