Job Title: Architect – Core Banking Applications

About Business line/Function: Core Banking line acts as the operational backbone for BNPParibas CIB’s corporate clients, providing integrated, secure and technology‑driven solutions to manage their day‑to‑day financial transactions and liquidity needs. The Core Banking business line delivers end‑to‑end transaction‑banking solutions that enable corporates, financial institutions and public‑sector clients to manage cash, payments and liquidity efficiently.

Position Purpose: We are looking for a role of architect who should drive and contribute to designing, overseeing, and evolving the technical blueprint of the core banking-related applications. This role is for driving the technical blueprint for core banking application, a next-generation, agnostic cash-centralized position system. The Architect will lead/oversee the design of a system that is framework, database, and cloud-independent, capable of supporting both traditional cash accounts and digital Assets with extreme scalability (200M+ transactions/day) while maintaining regulatory compliance and standards set at banking level.

Direct Responsibilities:

1. Architectural Design & Strategy

Key involvement and leadership in defining and maintaining the target state architecture for core banking applications (e.g. C-CLIPS). Design has to be scalable, high-availability, and fault-tolerant distributed systems in accordance with the application and the functional scope.

Enforce a 'Clean Architecture' approach to ensure business logic is entirely decoupled from the UI, Database, and External Systems, allowing for seamless technology swaps without impacting core functions.

As per need, lead the transition from legacy architectures to modern microservices or cloud-native architectures.

Ensure seamless integration between the core banking engine and peripheral systems via robust API layers.

2. Technical Leadership & Governance

Adapt to best technical standards and best practices for software development, data modeling, and integration methodologies.

Architect event-driven systems to meet rigorous SLAs (500ms per operation) and handle massive throughput (up to 200M transactions per day) using horizontal scaling

Design highly resilient, event-driven data pipelines using Kafka to facilitate real-time data synchronization between Global Physical Instances (e.g., China, Indonesia) and Logical Instances, ensuring data consistency across a distributed global footprint.

Have a strong governance to conduct architectural reviews and provide technical governance to ensure project implementations align with the enterprise roadmap and bank standards.

Collaborate with security / Cybersecurity teams in the bank to ensure "Security by Design" is embedded in the core architecture.

3. Modernization & Digital Transformation

As per need and feasibility, drive the roadmap for cloud migration (Hybrid/Multi-cloud) of core banking workloads.

As per need, Architect real-time data processing capabilities to support instant payments and real-time customer insights.

Optimize system performance to handle increasing transaction volumes and concurrency.

Leverage event-streaming patterns to replace traditional batch processing with real-time event detection, ensuring 24/7 continuous availability and uninterrupted data streams.

4. Stakeholder Management

Bridge the gap between business requirements and technical execution by communicating complex architectural concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Effective collaboration among technical teams, business teams, operation teams to ensure best proposal of architecture model.

Contributing Responsibilities:

Work closely with Product Owners to ensure the technical roadmap supports the business product lifecycle. Collaborate with DevOps teams to ensure automated deployment and operational stability.
