Position at a glance
As a Senior Project Manager, you will steer end‑to‑end finance implementation projects that modernize BNP Paribas’ general ledger and deliver new capabilities for our clients while ensuring regulatory compliance. By turning deep business analysis into disciplined project execution, you will help the bank fulfil its mission of providing reliable, innovative financial services across North America. The role bridges core banking and capital‑markets expertise with a collaborative approach to transformation.
Several project typologies can be considered:
- Digital projects, where Finance processes are being automated and streamlined.
- Regulatory projects, where Finance reporting is adapted to meet Regulatory requirements for Head office reporting.
- Business Projects, where Finance systems are adapted to handle new products or needs coming from Front Office or ALMT.
- Internal Finance (Finance for finance) projects, where various Finance teams need to be coordinated to reach an internal goal (organization topics, internal requests from the Group, internal requests from the CFO executive committee).
In Details
- Define project scope, objectives and success criteria during the planning phase to align with business needs, ensuring new ledger interfaces and capabilities meet client expectations, by collaborating with finance stakeholders and product owners.
- Collect and analyze user requirements and current processes early in the project to identify improvement opportunities and regulatory gaps, through workshops, interviews and documentation reviews.
- Coordinate with global Finance teams in New York, London, Lisbon, Mumbai and Paris throughout execution to ensure consistent delivery, by establishing clear communication channels and shared governance.
- Monitor project timelines, budgets and quality metrics on a weekly basis to guarantee on time delivery, using project‑management tools and reporting dashboards, and escalating issues to sponsors when necessary.
- Develop and deliver training materials and communications for target user groups before go‑live to facilitate adoption and smooth transition, by working with subject‑matter experts and identified “sparring partners.”
- Establish and maintain project governance structures, including steering‑committee meetings and KPI tracking, to provide transparent oversight and enable data‑driven decision making, by documenting decisions and actions.
- Support cross‑functional teams in a collaborative manner to resolve issues and adjust plans when critical paths shift, by facilitating problem‑solving sessions and ensuring stakeholder alignment.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements by integrating new reporting features into finance systems during design and testing phases, in partnership with compliance experts.
- Drive continuous improvement of project methodology by updating templates and best‑practice guidelines after each delivery, to enhance efficiency for future initiatives, by capturing lessons learned and sharing them across the Finance Office.
- Foster an inclusive project culture by encouraging diverse perspectives and ensuring all voices are heard throughout decision‑making, by using inclusive facilitation techniques and proactive stakeholder engagement.
The strengths and skills that will help you succeed
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance or accounting.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in finance, banking or project management, with a focus on large‑scale implementation initiatives.
- The knowledge of French and English is required. *
- Knowledge of accounting and banking reconciliation.
- Facilitate collaborative problem solving when working with cross‑functional, geographically dispersed teams.
- Apply reasoned project‑management practices (planning, methodology, governance, budgeting) to drive disciplined execution.
- Provide dependable subject‑matter expertise on finance processes and systems to support user adoption.
- Deliver clear and concise communication of complex financial concepts to audiences of varying technical backgrounds.
- Coordinate stakeholder engagement, updating sponsors and senior leaders on progress, risks and decisions.
- Use advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) to create analytical reports, presentations and tracking tools.
- Conduct thorough risk and impact assessments to identify critical paths and required ecosystem interactions.
- Support changing management by designing training content and communication plans tailored to target user groups.
- Evaluate solutions by gathering expert input and proposing viable options that meet business and regulatory requirements.
- Given the vast majority of our clients, both internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific language requirements may apply. Professional working proficiency in French and English languages are required.
