Job Description :
In a context of massive digitalization of economic life and significant increase in the volume of information processed by the bank, mastering the data produced and used within BNP Paribas is a major strategic objective for the Group.
A wide range of core banking activities are impacted by stringent regulatory frameworks asking for high quality standards, granular access, near real time availability, robust audit trails and advanced data infrastructures. Those requirements include, but are not restricted to risk reporting activities, bank internal models, stress testing of portfolios, record keeping for trade reconstruction, etc…
In parallel, the protection of individuals’ privacy is rapidly expanding and tend to align on GDPR requirements asking among others for lawful, fair and transparent processing of personal data.
Beside regulatory requirements, BNP Paribas is also willing to maximize the value of data and gain competitive advantage on different front:
- operational excellence: decision making process and industrialization efforts are fed by data, analytics and machine learning in a data driven enterprise model
- digital experience: new ways of working and new digital usage are rapidly evolving and reinforcing the need to care for user data
- capacity to innovate: data enabled innovation can be stimulated for new product offers and respond to new triggers such as group commitments on ESG. Those requirements have been a catalyst for taking the necessary steps and guiding investments to build strong data governance capabilities.
Group Data Office has the mission to accompany the various data priorities of the Group:
- Data Strategy: define and monitor BNP Paribas Data strategy in connection with Métiers and regulatory requirements. Set the maintenance framework, in terms of quality, integrity and data protection. Define the required data management standards to deliver the Group data strategy in close cooperation with users.
- Data Quality: focus on making data actionable to drive fluid, efficient and responsible usage while ensuring adherence to high data governance standards. Specific attention to the permanent adherence to BCBS 239 principles, including requirements related to ESG Data. He establishes and provides a framework for all data based on rules and practices. He establishes a common language thanks to shared definitions, norms and referential, setting data quality standards and implementing an operational governance.
- Data Protection: define priorities, provide operational guidelines for the processing of personal data to comply with the existing data protection regulations, in particular the EU GDPR regulation
- Data Science: define Group AI Ambition and monitor progress. Together with Group IT, build capabilities to support AI teams in the business lines, this includes data visualization and data science platforms
Positioned within the CDO’s office, the DSO plays, alongside the various AI Analytics Teams of the Group a key role in:
· Steering of the Group strategy with regards to AI.
· Contributing to operationalize our setup by favouring mutualisation, centralising transversal services and collating pain-points.
· Promoting AI acculturation throughout the Group.
The Data Scientists will report to the Head of Data Science Office.
Key responsibilities
· Contribute to the management of the portfolio of projects initiated by the Data Science Office or where it takes part.
· Ensure maintenance of this portfolio of project for communication to other relevant parties.
· Build clear and concise material supporting the key projects, including working documents and meeting minutes.
· Administer the lifecycle of those projects, including designing roadmaps, tracking deliveries. Identify delays and problems.
· Ensure coordination of those project with the other Group Data Office streams.
· Keep a log of, monitor and quantify achievements of the Data Science Office in line with its mission statement. To that end, suggest KPI or alternate metrics.
· Suggest potential projects supporting the development of the Data Science Office in its mission to enhance the coordination of the Data Science across the Group.
· Contribute to the technical efficiency of information sharing by suggesting state of the art technologies (mailing list, intranet, document sharing, subscription management…)
Qualifications
· Demonstrated expertise in Data Science Project Management
· Fluent in Big Data technologies and AI techniques
· Demonstrated leadership skills in a technical environment with a background in large scale data management
· Expert in strategic data planning, standards, procedures, and governance
· Proficient communication skills to both senior management and technical teams
· Good understanding of banking products, services and processes.
Profile
· Graduate level education in computer science, engineering, physics or a related degree from a top engineering school or university
· Languages: French and English proficiency required
· Ability to travel as needed
