What is this position about?

The Private Capital assistant manager plays a critical role in the Private Capital team. Reporting to the Head of the private capital department, the role provides technical expertise and reviewing function with respect to Private Capital Asset Owner administration services s delivered to the BNP Paribas Client Base.  

 

The role is responsible for the, output and service delivery of the Private Capital team and will include the provision of technical expertise for all regulatory / statutory change, support business change projects and business improvements process review and provide technical support and input for any process re-engineering. This role will perform an oversight role for the Private Capital Fund Admin/s in the team. 

 

 

 

 

Primary Role Responsibilities

 

The operational controls and oversight will include the provision, review and delivery of the following activities: 

 

·          Oversight and controls for all process, recording and control of capital calls, distributions, and transfers of shares/units.

·          Verification of collected documents with regards to distribution calculations and any other payments towards investors. 

·          Authorisation of and validation of any capital event. 

·          Lead and assist with the new client onboarding, perform as the BAU SME- Private Capital for transitions and projects where needed

·          Review and analysis of documents received in relation to any direct or indirect investments before processing/instructing the related payments.

·          Analysis of transactions’ counterparts from an AML/KYC/FATCA perspective.

·          Lead and deliver in completing all statutory and regulatory reporting requirements across the BNP Paribas Client base.

In addition, Assistant Manager, where required, will actively participate in senior, strategic client meetings along with the Manager or the Head of Private Capital team, and/or Relationship Management and will provide any input requested for the RFP process for New Business in association with the Sales and Relationship Management team and may represent BNP Paribas’ services and product offering as required during the tender and due diligence process. They are subsequently responsible for ensuring the operational implementation of any service delivery changes to meet client needs.

May perform other duties and responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time.

INDIVIDUAL LEADERSHIP:

 

·         Active participation in client and relationship management meetings where required

·         Operational leadership of change incorporating Client requirements, process reviews and providing technical expertise on process re-engineering 

·         Full service delivery in line with the clients SLA’s and internal KPI’s

·         Business Implementation – including on boarding of new clients, restructures, product development, statutory and regulatory change

·         Supporting the overall service delivery via cross-team co-operation

·         Act as a conduit of change for business, IT and client projects across the organisation

·         Actively contribute and participate in all Culture and Leadership initiatives

·         Responsibility for ensuring the education, implementation and compliance with BNP Paribas policies

·         Influencing the desired culture of flexibility, accountability and openness to change and leading by example

 

 

CLIENT SERVICE:

·         Specifically delivery of client service management; fund accounting and reporting     for Private Capital assets

·         Active participation in client meetings as well as technical escalation point for client issues or changes

·         Plan, lead and govern the End of year financial reporting to meet specific client SLA terms

·         Ensuring implementation of operational risk and legislative requirements in all output

·         Client support for all Private Capital team processes for  BNP Paribas Superannuation, Pension, Sovereign Wealth Fund and Institutional clients

·         Work closely with product specialists and portfolio managers to develop and maintain relationships with existing clients and prospects 

·         Client on-boarding, preparing client communication material, and responses to RFP’s leading to new business generation

 

COMMERCIAL FOCUS 

·         Analysis, innovation, development and implementation of change and process improvement 

·         Exposure to broad range of investing strategies including Fund of Funds, Direct, Co-Investment 

·         Maintain and monitor the BP2S Risk Control Framework for the services provided to Client, including formal supervision and working closely with Risk and Compliance and Operational Controllers, identifying potential risks and developing controls to mitigate them

·         Through influence and delivery across the business be seen as a Private Capital expert for the IAS team

 

EXPERIENCE

 

·         Extensive  experience within the financial services industry

·         Proven track record within Fund Administration 

·         Proven change management and process improvement capability 

·         Competent strategic thinker with the ability to create and implement solutions

·         Ability to foster and maintain strong interpersonal relationships both internally and externally

·         The Assistant Manager Private Capital team requires an individual with a strong technical background in Fund Administration incorporating all aspects of valuation of Private Capital assets, unit pricing, tax , accounting and     reporting

 

The candidate needs to understand the role which Investment Administration plays within the broader organisation and thereby understand the bigger picture of impacts and influences Investment Administration have with its stakeholders.  

 

It is important that the candidate is able to respond in professional manner to Clients, BNP Paribas staff, colleagues and executives, ensuring always that the reputation of the department and BNP Paribas is enhanced by their actions.  The candidate will require excellent communication skills both written and oral. This individual should have a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence in their work.
