Job Title: Functional Architect (Senior Business Analyst)

Department: ISPL, CIB IT

Securities services department of CIB

Position Purpose

As a Functional Architect (Senior Business Analyst) and subject matter expert for Tax and Custody business IT will:

·       Design and maintain the functional architecture of Tax applications.

·       Provide end to end IT solutioning for projects within the Tax and Custody domain.

·       Translate business requirements into well structured epics and user stories.

·       Collaborate closely with development teams and Product Owners to drive agile delivery.

·       Own functional testing and ensure successful delivery of new features.

The position requires working in a virtual team and international environment and is multidisciplinary in nature. It involves coordination with other locations and divisions of BNP Paribas as necessary. It is important that the candidate should have some financial products knowledge along with analytical skills and attention to details.

Responsibilities

·       Define the functional architecture for new features or modules.

·       Translate project requirements into functional IT solutions.

·       Capture user and business needs and express them as EPICs and User Stories.

·       Analyze existing business processes, manage changing requirements, and deliver efficient product enhancements.

·       Represent the IT perspective in discussions with business and operational teams.

·       Own the product end to end, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.

·       Transfer functional knowledge to development teams as needed.

·       Steward enhancement requests: clarify requirements with developers, monitor progress, and drive releases.

·       Write functional test cases for change requests and continuously update regression test suites.

·       Oversee ANRT (Automated Non Regression Testing) execution and monitor results.

·       Communicate and coordinate with stakeholders across product, business, operations, and technology groups.

·       Ensure delivered products meet quality standards and adhere to the bank’s SDLC processes.

·       Promote best practices, introduce new tools and techniques, and continuously improve quality.

·       Identify potential delivery risks, escalating issues to management when necessary.

·       Collaborate with other application teams across business functions to achieve global project objectives.

 

Contributing Responsibilities

·       Drive the use of regression testing tools across the Tax domain.

·       Develop training material as the subject matter expert.

·       Create a strategic roadmap for the application ecosystem supporting banking services.

·       Review fellow Business Analysts’ deliverables and provide assistance when needed.

·       Present Tax initiatives at department level and 2S forums.

·       Support the APS team with production BAU issues, focusing on critical and regulatory requirements.

·       Track L3 issue progress with the development team, serving as the bridge between Dev and APS.

 

Functional & Behavioral Competencies

Required Skills & Experience

·       Strong domain expertise in securities services, specifically Tax and Custody.

·       Deep understanding of corporateaction (CA) processing in European markets.

·       Proven experience supporting global applications and delivering largescale transformation projects in custody.

·       Handson experience with custody platforms such as NCS and BaNCS.

·       Excellent analytical and communication abilities to drive project delivery.

·       Endtoend SDLC experience across multiple methodologies, including Agile.

·       Ability to quickly grasp business needs and devise efficient functional solutions.

Desirable (NicetoHave) Skills

·       Experience building interface or crossapplication solutions.

·       Familiarity with taxspecific concepts, especially DTT (Double Taxation Treaty) matters.

·       Working knowledge of tax automation tools such as Xceptor.

·       Exposure to data modeling and proficiency in Oracle SQL / PLSQL.

·       Experience developing J2EE applications.

 

Specific Qualifications:

12 to 18 years of experience as a Business Analyst/solution expert in Tax and Custody Domain.

 

Skills Referential (Required knowledge, skills and abilities)

Functional: 

·       Deep knowledge of custody and corporate actions processes.

·       Specialized expertise in tax, especially Double Tax Treaty (DTT) workflows.

·       Proven ability to design and analyze global enhancement solutions.

·       Full cycle experience with the end to end Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
