What does a Collection manager do?

 

In this role you serve as an important source of feedback for senior management and are therefore closely involved in the running of Arval Belgium. 

 

You report directly to the Director Global Operations & Insurance. In your daily work, the sales and finance departments are your key internal stakeholders. 

 

In this role, you will manage and improve debtor management for Arval Belgium and Arval Luxembourg. You are responsible for defining and delivering an effective financial strategy and reporting system. In addition to motivating and coaching your team as a manager, you enjoy project-based working

  • You formulate clear goals within your area, and coordinate these with all the stakeholders involved. This means you have a dual role as both coordinaor and executive.
  • Together with your team, you are responsible for collecting payment of the invoices that you manage for Arval Belgium and Arval Luxembourg. 
  • You lead a team of officers and support colleagues who you coach, motivate and inspire, with the focus on achieving excellent results. 
  • With the support of your team, you contribute to monitoring and increasing turnover levels by accelerating the collection of invoices from customers (B2C and B2B) and keeping the number of unpaid invoices to a minimum.
  • Together with the business operations experts, you are responsible for the development and change processes within your team 
  • You have a strongly future-oriented vision, in line with the Arval Group strategy, and believe in digitisation.  Thanks to accurate reporting and analysis, you as a business partner are able to put forward recommendations for improvements and help senior management in both countries to run the company in a proactive and data-driven manner.
  • You act as a mediator between commercial interests and financial demands.
  • You follow up disputes and legal cases carefully. You have contacts with both debt collection agencies and also bailiffs’ offices and law firms.
  • You will work on making the collection policy even more professional in both Belgium and Luxembourg.
  • You will be working with the collections director of the Arval Group


You will also manage the collection team within your own department. People management is crucial within the department: 

  • Recruitment of new employees.
  • On-the-job training.
  • Motivating all employees in their daily tasks to help them rise to a higher level.
  • Creating a great working environment that revolves around empowerment, trust and growth.
  • Coaching employees through evaluation and development interviews


Who are you?

 

  • You have a Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Commercial Engineering and have at least 5 years' experience in a similar role in finance.   
  • You have experience working for a company specialising in providing services, preferably in the automotive sector/operational car leasing.
  • You have a broad financial understanding of aspects such as accounting, receivables management, etc. and are enthusiastic about debtor management.
  • You have a lead-by-example attitude. 
  • We rely on our human capital and therefore expect you to have a strong interest in people and be a committed people manager. 
  • You are able to collaborate across departments with stakeholders in the company in order to gain an in-depth knowledge of the business. 
  • You are a team player who can initiate and sponsor change diplomatically.
  • You have integrity, are committed and results-oriented.
  • You are fundamentally service-oriented and able to put yourself in others' shoes.
  • You have, or are able to acquire, a good knowledge of internal and external processes.
  • You are able to interpret the impact of changes in legislation and apply these in your own operations.
  • You are analytical and process-oriented.
  • You are decisive and able to take the inititiative. 
  • You can proactively put forward your personal input and suggestions for improvements.
  • You are good with Excel. 
  • You have an excellent spoken and written proficiency in Dutch, English and French.
